PRIVACY POLICY
RocketRide.org Foundation
Effective Date: February 26, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to RocketRide.org! RocketRide.org Foundation (the "Foundation," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our website at https://rocketride.org (the "Site") or contact us.
The Foundation is an independent organization that stewards the open-source extension project. This Privacy Policy applies solely to the Foundation’s website and activities. It does not apply to RocketRide Inc. or its cloud compute platform, which maintains its own separate privacy policy.
Please read this policy carefully. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly. When you submit a contact form or send us an email, we may collect your name, email address, and any other information you choose to include in your message. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically. When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically, including:
- IP address and approximate geographic location
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Pages visited, time spent on pages, and navigation paths
- Referring website or search engine
- Date and time of your visit
This information is collected through third-party analytics tools and our web hosting infrastructure. It is used to understand how visitors use the Site and to improve its content and performance.
3. Analytics and Tracking Tools
We use third-party web analytics services to analyze traffic and usage patterns on the Site. These services use cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect and report information about how visitors interact with the Site. Analytics providers may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on the Site.
Analytics providers may transfer collected information to third parties where required by law, or where such third parties process the information on their behalf. We configure our analytics tools to minimize data collection where possible, including enabling IP anonymization where available.
You can opt out of analytics tracking by managing your cookie preferences through your browser settings, or by using a browser-based opt-out tool provided by the relevant analytics provider. Most modern browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies at any time.
We may update the analytics tools we use from time to time. Any such changes will be reflected in this Privacy Policy when they materially affect how your data is collected or used.
4. Cookies
The Site uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — primarily to support analytics and site performance. These cookies help us understand visitor behavior and improve the Site. We do not use cookies for advertising or to track you across other websites.
You may disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Please note that disabling cookies may affect some functionality of the Site. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to contact form submissions and inquiries
- Analyze and improve the Site’s content, performance, and usability
- Understand our visitor community and open-source project reach
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not use your information for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any commercial purpose. The Foundation does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party.
6. Open-Source Project and GitHub
The open-source extension stewarded by the Foundation is hosted on GitHub. If you interact with the project on GitHub (e.g., by submitting issues, pull requests, or comments), your activity is governed by GitHub’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, not this policy. We encourage you to review GitHub’s privacy practices at https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-privacy-statement.
The Foundation does not collect or store any data from your use of the open-source extension itself. The extension is governed solely by the MIT License included in the project repository.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:
- Third-party analytics providers, for the purposes described in Section 3
- Our web hosting provider, which may process server logs containing IP addresses in the ordinary course of providing hosting services
- Legal authorities, if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of the Foundation or others
8. Data Retention
Contact form submissions and email correspondence are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry, typically no longer than 12 months. Google Analytics data is retained according to Google’s standard retention settings, which we have configured to 14 months. Server logs are typically retained for up to 90 days.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at help@rocketride.org and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
California Residents (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. California residents may contact us at help@rocketride.org to exercise their rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act.
EU/UK Residents (GDPR): If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our lawful basis for processing your data is legitimate interest (analytics and site improvement) and consent (contact form submissions). You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at help@rocketride.org.
10. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited personal information we collect. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to be cautious about the information you share through any online contact form.
11. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
12. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites, including GitHub, documentation platforms, and community forums. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
13. Relationship with RocketRide Inc.
RocketRide.org Foundation is an independent organization and is legally separate from RocketRide Inc. The Foundation’s website and open-source stewardship activities are governed by this Privacy Policy. RocketRide Inc.’s cloud compute platform is a separate commercial product governed by RocketRide Inc.’s own Privacy Policy, available at https://rocketride.ai/privacy. Any data you provide to RocketRide Inc. is handled under their policy, not this one.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
